The famous Aeroplane Jelly song was first played on radio late in 1930. In November 1938 five year old Joy King beat 200 other children in a talent quest to record the official version of the song that is still used today!               The Wright brothers first powered aeroplane flight was in 1903!                 Bert Appleroth started making jelly crystals at home in his bathtub in 1926. He was then working as a tram conductor, and would go to work armed with a batch of jelly crystals, and visit stores along the tram’s route. They sold so well that in 1927, Bert left his job on the trams, rented a shed in Paddington NSW and started full-time production of jelly crystals. It was the birth of Aeroplane Jelly!                 Amelia Earhart was the first woman to receive a pilot's license.         Over ten million packets of Aeroplane Jelly are consumed every year in Australia. That’s enough jelly to fill over 100 swimming pools!       The largest collection of handmade airplanes belongs to John Kalusa (USA) who has created 5,737 wooden airplanes since 1936.       An hour spent driving, or even walking, has more potential dangers than an hour spent on a plane!       On March 27 2004, NASA's unmanned Hyper-X (X-43A) airplane reached Mach 6.83, almost seven times the speed of sound.             The first commercial passenger aeroplane began flying in 1914, but the first commercial passenger plane with a bathroom didn't began flying until 1919!       The level flight duration record for a hand-launched paper airplane is 27.6 sec., by Ken Blackburn of the USA, at the Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia.
